A. Arthur Katona, M.D.
Hair Transplant Surgeon
Dr. Arthur Katona performed his first hair transplant procedure more than five years ago and has since limited his practice of medicine exclusively to hair restoration surgery. "Hair restoration involves a multitude of disciplines which include surgery, dermatology and pathology," he said. "I have had advanced training in all three."
Dr. Katona believes a well-rounded background in various surgical or medical subspecialties allows the doctor to bring better perspective and judgment to each patient. "One needs to take a multi-discipline approach to hair loss. The experience I have attained in surgery, dermatopathology and dermatology are directly related to hair loss and its treatments," he said. "To integrate these disciplines, fellowship training with the foremost physicians in hair restoration is critical."
For more than a year, Dr. Katona trained with Medical Hair Restoration Founder and Medical Director, Dr. Matt Leavitt. "The core of my training in hair restoration came via a demanding fellowship with Dr. Matt Leavitt. Because of his reputation as the leading authority in hair restoration, I was exposed to every conceivable aspect of hair loss."
According to Dr. Katona, patients should expect a hair restoration surgeon to have aesthetic judgment, diligence and great attention to detail. Expertise and proficiency comes with experience. Because MHR physicians and staff have this enriched experience, patients can be assured they will receive the best medical care available.
"I wanted to be a part of the Medical Hair Restoration physician team because the practice is committed solely to the advancement of hair restoration at its highest level," said Dr. Katona. "The practice mandates that all of its employees meet the highest expectations. Hair loss is an important medical discipline. MHR believes hair loss is a condition from which many people suffer and they make a wholehearted attempt to alleviate this condition for those who suffer from it."
Through his practice, Dr. Katona has enjoyed many wonderful patient experiences. In performing corrective hair restoration surgery, he has had the opportunity to convert despondent individuals into satisfied patients. He has also been able to restore hair for patients who have hair loss due to scarring from medical conditions or head trauma.
His passion for hair restoration has developed into a vested interest in research and investigation of the nature and causes of hair loss. "People are extremely troubled by hair loss. It impairs them in all facets of life," Dr. Katona said. "Hair transplantation allows identifying a problem and then actively correcting it. This empowers many people to make other healthy improvements in their lives."
