Carlos J. Puig, D.O.
Hair Transplant Surgeon
Dr. Carlos Puig began performing hair transplant surgery in 1973 while he was in the Army. "During the first year, I became addicted to the positive results and impact this had on the patients' lives," said Dr. Puig. "Medical technology and surgical techniques have evolved tremendously, particularly within the last few years. It has been a thrill to be a part of that evolution, as a doctor and a patient."
He joined Medical Hair Restoration (MHR) because he found Medical Director, Dr. Matt Leavitt, to have the same commitment to patient care and quality of practice that he has maintained. "I have worked for many years with MHR doctors in faculty positions, and could see the same focused commitment permeated throughout the entire practice," said Dr. Puig. "MHR provides the kind of environment I want to practice in."
Dr. Puig draws on his 30 years of experience in hair restoration to put his patients at ease and to customize the treatment for each person.
He stresses the importance of careful planning, attention to detail and empathy for patients. Experience is more important than credentials to Dr. Puig. "Any hair restoration surgeon should be willing to share his experiences, good and bad, with the patients if asked."
In his leisure time, Dr. Puig plays bass guitar in a jazz trio. Had he not gone into medicine, he would have pursued his musical interests. Dr. Puig also enjoys sailing. He has worked in the Central American medical mission of Living Water International.
