Gregory Shannon, M.D.
Hair Transplant Surgeon
A man of many interests and hobbies, Dr. Gregory Shannon began to investigate hair restoration surgery after 14 years in medical practice. After attending the Live Surgery Workshop, the premier event in this unique medical specialty, the sum of his observations led him to hold the physicians at Medical Hair Restoration in high regard. He applied for and was accepted into MHR's Hair Transplantation Fellowship. "I wanted to learn from the best," said Dr. Shannon. "As a perfectionist, that was the only choice."
Dr. Shannon is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving two stints, the first as a Field Medic and Clinical Specialist from 1974 to 1977, which included recognition for his service during the Vietnam War. Following his second term with the Army, Dr. Shannon pursued his MBA, which he received from the University of South Florida in Tampa. His well-rounded education has served his hands-on personality, which has translated to the care of his patients.
"A hair loss patient should look for a surgeon who is honest and realistic," he said. "A hair transplant surgeon must be able to accurately relate every aspect of the procedure. The more knowledge the patient has, the better the experience."
After the procedure, many of Dr. Shannon's patients have commented that there was less discomfort than they expected and many find their result is better than anticipated. He has received great enjoyment in the appreciation his patients express and the frequency in which patients say their life has been positively changed because of having the procedure.
During his hair transplantation fellowship, Dr. Shannon trained extensively with Dr. Matt Leavitt, MHR Founder and Medical Director. He worked with Dr. Leavitt in Orlando, Dallas and Beverly Hills.
Active both in his professional life and his personal life, Dr. Shannon has been involved in numerous professional medical organizations and has held several positions in medical committees. He is a pilot and enjoys many outdoor activities. Dr. Shannon has been published in medical journals and has made several television and radio appearances as a medical expert.
