Dr. Neal Gorrin, M.D.
Throughout his 20 year career as a general surgeon and weight loss surgeon, Dr. Neal Gorrin has seen patients who live with an unhealthy view of themselves, which has not only affected their confidence, self esteem and social life, but also their role in the workplace. He has also observed, firsthand, the remarkable transformation that patients experience, physically and emotionally, following the substanial weight loss that results from bariatric surgery. Dr. Gorrin has experienced this same remarkable transformation in men and women who have undergone hair transplant surgery. “When a person suffers from hair loss, they may look older, lose confidence or feel awkward with the face that they are presenting to the world around them,” stated Dr. Gorrin, “When patients regain their hair through hair transplantation, they seem to become new people. With that renewed confidence, their life seems to open up in new directions.”
After completing his undergraduate studies at UCLA, Dr. Gorrin received his medical degree from the esteemed Creighton University School of Medicine. He began his surgical training in 1984, and over the course of his career, Dr. Gorrin has held the distinguished positions of Assistant Chief of Surgery, Chief of Bariatric Surgery, and Medical Director at several highly respected hospitals and surgical centers on the West Coast. After deciding to seek specialty training in hair transplantation surgery, Dr. Gorrin applied for the prestigious MHR fellowship in Hair Transplantation Surgery. Upon his acceptance into the coveted program, he began intensive training under the direction of world-renowned hair transplant surgeon, Dr. Melvin Mayer. “I wanted to be trained by experts,” said Dr. Gorrin, “Many surgeons learn hair transplant procedures in weekend classes or at conferences. My due diligence told me that the Medical Hair Restoration fellowship was the finest opportunity available for training to be a world-class hair transplant surgeon.
Dr. Gorrin has been Board Certified in General Surgery since 1989. His medical philosophy is centered on the belief that the patient and their family should always come first, and he believes in approaching the practice of medicine with humor, openness, and confidence. “A physician should be honest with his patients and allow them enough time to express their needs and concerns,” he commented.
For Dr. Gorrin, the most satisfying aspect of being a hair transplant surgeon is seeing his patients’ joy and renewed confidence in their appearance. “Hair transplantation provides a safe and permanent way to solve the physical and emotional problems that come with hair loss, in addition to the social difficulty,” he acknowledged, “But most of all, I enjoy helping people to live the happiest and most healthy life that they can.”
